The original Polycrest A/S was established in 1985 as a management company to mana-
ge and operate drilling rigs, accommodation rigs and other offshore vessels on a world-
wide basis. The company was established by the Rasmussen Group under the name of
Polycrest A/S and was initially located at Sola near Stavanger, Norway. In 1998
the company was sold to the Norwegian stock listed company Ocean Rig ASA and changed
name at the same time to Ocean Rig AS. During Ocean Rig’s ownership the company
functioned as a separate entity within the Ocean Rig group and mainly carried out
“external” management activities, i.e. management of vessels owned by other parties than
Ocean Rig. This “external” management activity was sold by Ocean Rig to the newly esta-
blished company Polycrest A/S with effect from 1st January 2004. This new company
chose the name Polycrest A/S as this activity went back to its roots and thereby wanted
to utilize a well-established name, which had been dormant for a period.
The new Polycrest A/S is 100 % owned by Polycrest Holdings A/S , which in turn is fully
owned by Rolf K. Ytreland and his family.
As the new Polycrest A/S still carries on business that dates back to the establishment of
the original Polycrest A/S nearly 25 years ago we feel it is proper to give a synopsis of
some of the vessels both the old and the present company have managed commercially,
technically and/or provided management services to over the past 25 years:
